The exposition of the museum

Five rooms of the main building of the museum display the exposition dedicated to the life and creative activity of Adam Mitskievich. The first three rooms: children’s room, father’s study and a living room remind the interior of the Mitskieviches house. The exposition includes both the personal belongings (Mitskievich’s a colored glass, mantel clock, glasses) and the articles related to Adam Mitskievich and his epoch: furniture, tableware, a piano, a fan, a clock of the early 19th century, Mitskievich’s books and manuscripts, portraits of his friends, a bronze model of a monument to Mitskievich in Paris, a granite slab with Mitskievich’s bust (Warsaw, 1900). The bust was ordered by his elder daughter Maria and it had been kept in the Archangel Mikhail Catholic Church in Novogrudok since 1903.

The museum stocks number 9 lifetime editions of Adam Mitskievich, translations of his works into various languages, 120 black-letters books, manuscripts of different poets and writers, pictures of Belarusian and Russian artists, photographs and other documents.

Museum’s exhibitions are placed in the museum’s basement and underground passage. The literary and music salon is located in the outhouse. Different kind of literary and musical parties, research conferences, presentations of exhibitions and books, performances and other events are held here.

The museum is one of the most visited museums in Belarus. Among the visitors about 20% are foreign tourists.
